Reminiscing My Romance!

Reminiscing My Romance. . .
For those of you who have had the opportunity to spend Valentine's Day with "The Love of Your Life" every year for as long as the two of you have been together, may not understand my romance. You see, "Mr. Ed" and I have been married nearly 42 years and I can count on one hand the times we've been together for this special day. So this year, the forces of Mother Nature were cooperative, and the two of us actually spent the evening together. Indulge me, dear ones, for yes, this hopeless romantic went head ~ over ~ heels for romance.

Where do I begin?

I lured "Mr. Ed" to the lower level On Crooked Creek with rose petals from the entry hall. . . down the steps. . .to a candlelight dinner in front of our fireplace.

As many of you may already know, I met "Mr.Ed" when I was 13 years old. He was a Junior, I was a Freshman. We were High School Sweethearts. We married. Ed was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam Campaign, and finished a well decorated career of 22 years! From the U.S. Army, he entered the work force for Kansas Department of Transportation (K.D.O.T.). Now known as The Highway Man, he is the night supervisor for the Wichita metro area. Thus explains the many missed Valentine's Days of the past.

Tonight, at last, we would spend a Valentine's Day together! I set a romantic table for two in front of our fireplace. The red heart holds his favorite candy. . .Pecan Turtles!

I was nearly in tears earlier this morning. You see, he left my Valentine Card on top of the television, just in case he didn't make it home this evening. Always so thoughtful of the possibility of my having to spend special occasions alone.

Alas, he has arrived! What's this? My favorite candy! Oh be still, my heart!

We began with a leafy Green Salad tossed with a Creamy Mustard Vinaigrette.

Followed with Baked Chicken Almondine and Seasoned Chicken Noodles.

We finished our evening with decadant Chocolate Cake, coffee and music from his vintage LP collection. My favorite from our past ABBA/ Arrival, his pick Danny Davis & Willie Nelson with the Nashville Brass.

You see, dear ones. . .
                 my romance doesn't need anything. . .
                                                                                   but you!

Until next time. . .
