On Crooked Creek. . .I'm afraid NOT!
Most days On Crooked Creek,
it's the usual. . . bowl of Cheerios, orange juice and black coffee!
The weekends ~ now that's quite a bit different! Simple, s l o w Saturday and Sunday!
Beginning with our favorite breakfast fruit. . .Texas Red Grapefruit!
Followed by a new recipe On Crooked Creek,
Cheddar ~ Bacon Wake ~ Up Casserole!
This is one of those "keeper" recipes!
Made the night before. . .
pop it in the fridge. . .pop it in the oven. . .
simple every day breakfast!
4oz. dry French Bread, cut into 3/4 inch cubes (4 cups).
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar Cheese
4 slices Bacon, crisp~cooked, drained and crumbled
(OR. . . 1 cup diced cooked Ham)
2cups Milk
4 Eggs, slightly beaten
2 TBSP. snipped, fresh Italian Flat~Leaf Parsley
1/2 tsp. Mustard
1/4 tsp. freshly ground Black Pepper
1/8 tsp. Onion Powder
In a large bowl toss together the bread cubes, cheddar cheese, and the cooked bacon (OR ham).
In a medium bowl whisk together milk, eggs, parsley, mustard, pepper, and onion powder.
Pour over the bread mixture in the casserole.
Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours or up to 24 hours.
Bake, uncovered, in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Serves: 6.

That coffee cake is good, isn't it!! A pretty table and I like your casserole -- it looks yummy! For our special weekend breakfasts I forget about egg casseroles -- you've reminded me that perhaps next weekend, an egg casserole (YOUR egg casserole) should be on the menu at Linderhof!
