from rural~to~urban Prairie,
you'd expect to hear him say. . .
"Don't fence me in"!
Arriving On Crooked Creek,
"Mr. Ed" had many adjustments to make.
One of those . . .fences!
Privacy fences are common
in the majority of housing areas in our growing urban town.
The fences to our North and South are original to our property
and were a joint agreement with the homeowners.
The East and West fences belong solely to "Mr. Ed" and I.
Due to their disrepair, they have been completely replaced.
I have grown quite fond
of the original fences On Crooked Creek!
In time, they too, will have to be replaced.
But for the time being,
we'll continue to enjoy their charm and character they provide
this "Farmer Boy" and I On Crooked Creek!

I like fences for they make a backyard private -- and turns it from a backyard into a back garden!
ReplyDeleteI do love those kind of fences, and there is such beauty to them as they age. Seems you have "staged" them well and they are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Pat! Oh, I love the snaps of your fence and the old farm tool. I don't know what things are too well. I want to wish you and your family a very blessed Easter.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Your old wooden fence definitely has character, but best of all, lots of peep holes to look through!
ReplyDeleteThere is a small knot hole in the wooden fence on our one side and our little dog always has his eye up to it to spy on their dog. :-)

Love your fences Pat.
ReplyDeleteThe silvery weathered palings are beautiful.
I love that old hand plow leaning against the fence - perfect!
Wishing you and Mr Ed a very "Happy Easter".

I love your wood fence with the daisies and coneflowers. The old farm tool gives it just the right character. Happy Easter.

Hi Pat, thanks for coming by the Back Porch.
ReplyDeleteI just threw those photos on the blog this morning.
I wanted to participate in Thursday Inspiration, yet I am also busy getting the house ready for Sunday. I remembered these pictures when I was going through the old BPM archives.
This farm is south of us. The place where we got the pears is north. I told Jim I would like to go back to this farm and get more photos. I've learned quite a bit more since I took the photos.
I'd love to have a fence like that. It's beautiful, in person. I wanted a gritty old time look to the photos. I'd like to try something else though.
Happy Easter!
I really like fences, too. Some people hate them but I like the way they define a property. We put up several fences when we bought this property- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGood fences make good neighbours, they say. Privacy fences are everywhere in our neighbourhood, too. I love the natural weathered look of yours.
ReplyDeleteI love those organic fences and the how the weather has it's way with them. They take on such a time-worn beauty. You really play up their natural grace with your farm implements and flowers!
ReplyDeleteHappy and Blessed Easter Dear Friend!
Very nice! Looks like a great place for pictures!
ReplyDeletePat,
ReplyDeleteSo very, very nice to meet you! Thank you for your thoughtful comment on my rolls-I have had to work hard to get these little sweeties to turn out~ My Mother was the bread and roll Queen!!
I not only like your fence-I love your antique hand plow!! What a darling accent to your yard!
Happy Easter to you and your family!
Jemma
Love that old weathered wood. The fences make a perfect backdrop for your beautiful garden!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a beautiful back fence at our former house, so I love them, as they keep our back yards private..to be naked. lol!! I love how yours is with the weathered look and the farm implements and lovely flowers. Thank you so much for your visit, I love it so! Wishing you a happy and blessed Ester for all of you.

Fences serve a few purposes, one being privacy and keeping things out, or in. I love the old tiller you have.
ReplyDeleteRustic and charming- love the farm tool in the shot :)
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful...our home needs some curb appeal! We say it every year then Spring arrives and we are gone so much to our campground!
ReplyDeleteHi Pat...just wanted to say hi and thank you for visiting my home at Marty's today. Have a Blessed Easter!
ReplyDeleteI'm fond of fences - for the privacy, for the sense of welcome that a pretty gate in a fence gives - and for the decorating possibilities!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a fenced-in garden. Currently, our garden is more like a deer-buffet! I love your old fence -- beautiful and silvery and textured. :) Thanks for sharing, Pat! xo
