Textured Storage. . .

A tisket, a tasket. . .

a textured, labeled, storage basket!

Yes, dear ones, 
I know there's more painting 
and sewing projects to be attended to. . .

but, Studio One is my creative space. . .

and "Mr. Ed" made these delightful chalkboard labels
so~o~o. . .I just had to take some time off!!!

. . .and top tray in the basket!

Previously in Studio One,
I stored my decorative ribbon supply
in these galvanized trays on my storage shelves!

Once I streamlined the storage shelves (here),
another area for storing my ribbons was needed!

My textured storage baskets were the perfect solution!
I adore having the fabric and ribbons
stored out of sight, but close at hand!!!

Although I do have another basket for the bottom shelf,
(should it ever become necessary for storing project items)
my Underwood typewriter case fit perfectly in the open area.

Tying a satin Aqua hued ribbon
secures the key to the handle of the typewriter case
insuring that it will always be accessible.

Before. . .

. . .After!

Tisk, tisk, tisk. . .
will I ever get to the task at hand
and finish that painting and sewing???

Time will tell, dear ones. . .time will tell!

Don't Fence Me In!

When you bring "Farmer Boy"
from rural~to~urban Prairie,
you'd expect to hear him say. . .
"Don't  fence  me  in"!

Arriving On Crooked Creek,
"Mr. Ed" had many adjustments to make.
One of those . . .fences!

Privacy fences are common 
in the majority of housing areas in our growing urban town.

The fences to our North and South are original to our property 
and were a joint agreement with the homeowners.

The East and West fences belong solely to "Mr. Ed" and I.
Due to their disrepair, they have been completely replaced.

I have grown quite fond 
of the original fences On Crooked Creek!
In time, they too, will have to be replaced.

But for the time being,
we'll continue to enjoy their charm and character they provide
this "Farmer Boy" and I On Crooked Creek!

Hare Tablescape!

Easter is still a few days away. . .
but, On Crooked Creek, there are hares on the table!

I so  l o v e  bunnies!

Many years ago,
I received a coupon from a local decor shop
for $10.00 off any regular priced item 
in recognition of my birthday.

Having a December birthday,
I usually purchase something to add to my Christmas decor.

Can you imagine my surprise
when I found this pair of hares???
I adore their realistic resemblance. . .
so~o~o, they had to come home with me!!!

My all~time favorite color palette for tablescaping
is black, white and green!!!

Traditional, simplistic and whimsical!
Here's how I put together a Hare Tablescape!

I knew I wanted to use this black and white toile runner
with a white damask tablecloth, so I had "Mr. Ed" help me
extend our round dining room table to accommodate 4 people!

Next, I added the pair of hares.
My creamy ivory planter atop a patch of moss
got a moss sphere for that added pop of green!

Just like my bunnies,
those pots and moss spheres kept multiplying!

Next,
I added my matching round quilted place mats
and my sage green everyday dinner plates.

Setting the complimentary black and white checked
napkin at an angle, gives greater visual appeal.

Instead of using garland or ribbon,
I wound a creamy ivory and ecru hued curtain tie back
through the bunnies and planters 
to lighted and enhance the centerpiece. 

Then, I added Bordallo Pinheiro Majolica 
cabbage salad plates atop the napkins.

Everyday Oneida flatware 
and Libby Claret glassware make for easy clean~up!

Placing the table settings across from one another
allows for free~flowing conversation.

Vintage Avon crystal eggs can be easily moved aside 
to accommodate serving bowls and platters!

Coloring My World. . .

While I adore visiting all the white decor



in the Land of Blog. . .
and the booths at the Antique Mall. . .




On Crooked Creek. . . I am coloring my world!

Two years in a row,
on our side of the Prairie, we've been ridden with drought.
I am so~o~o ready for Spring to return
and bring with it all the varying hues of green!!!

So~o~o. . . 
while Mother Nature 
prepares the color palette outside my patio doors,
I began to bring the green palette
to the built~in buffet and china cabinet indoors!

My all~time favorite cabbage leaf dinner plate
from Bordallo Pinheiro begins as a backdrop for the upper shelf!

Placed in the center and on an easel for greater impact,
a newly purchased grape leaf and vine 
intricately detailed serving plate.

I adore how the detailing resembles a Celtic design!

Placed slightly in front of the Bordallo Pinheiro dinner plate
is yet, another newly purchased grape leaf plate edged in brown.

The intricate detailing is magnificent in this plate!
The blossoms have to be my favorite feature!!!

The final accessory,
a wrought iron reticulated petite plate stand. . .

holding Green Leaf Majolica dessert plates.

Moving to the other side of the upper shelf,

I chose my Majolica Tea Set!

From the basket weave background,

to the brown vine handle,

to the blue berries and green leaves,

this is one of the most interesting tea pots of my collection!

Creamer and sugar of this charming tea set

have all the same unique characteristics!!!

Notice how the green leaves of the Tea Set  

mimic those on the newly acquired grape leaf serving platter???

The middle shelf of this cabinet is always my greatest challenge!!!

It's height is barely 8 inches!!!

So~o~o. . .

I lined up my 4 Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage dessert / salad palates

across the back of the cabinet.

Then, I added a few of our wine glasses

collected from our European travels.

Along with my newly purchased vintage juice glasses 

with gently ribbed body and soft green rims.

After a huge ^sigh^ of relief,

the bottom shelf came together in no time at all!

Beginning with my 11 1/2" X 8 1/2" green majolica 

serving platters filled the space quite nicely!

Next, I added two Franciscan 8 1/2" green leaf plates.

The addition of vintage green swirl pattern

depression dessert bowls and plates

brighten and lighten the shelf area.

A touch of whimsy is inserted into this shelf

with a $1 thrifty vacation find lidded asparagus jar.

To the other side, I placed my cabbage tureen

combined with another $1 vacation find.

Coloring my world On Crooked Creek

with all the glorious hues of green. . .

all the while, Mother Nature

was painting the view outside my patio doors

with a magnificent hue of. . .
