McGregor Vignette. . .

Dear Ones,
Most of the time, On Crooked Creek, 
I take myself  w a y  too seriously!

I  k n o w  I need to lighten up,
let my guard down,
and en J O Y life more.

. . .and that's what prompted 
this McGregor vignette!

On Crooked Creek, 
I have an on~going affair with b u n n i e s! 
I  l o v e  b u n n i e s!


Most of the bunnies in my collection 
are very neutral and realistic appearing.
There is, however, one exception. . .ah~h~h!

This was my first pastel bunny purchase!
Largely acquired as a token of my years
as an Early Childhood Educator, he reminded me of Peter Rabbit!

Just look at that innocent little face!
Don't you know I truly lost my heart when I first saw that face???

Who could resist???
Certainly, definitely. . .I couldn't!!!

The same day, on another shelf in the store,
I purchased this  b u n n y  couple!
Aren't they just the cutest thing???

Because they weren't inexpensive. . .
I wasn't able to bring home the tallest b u n n y of this grouping!

Later, while at a local Antique Mall,
I found this "cutie" in a booth marked @ 20% off!!!

Now, my  b u n n y  family together at last!
I've brought them to the dining room for Springs arrival!

"Mr. Ed's" box has been painted a soft gray
and filled to the brim with Bordallo Pinhiero Majolica collection.

Two newly acquired additions to my collection
are this cabbage leaf and vine plate. 

I adore how the little blossoms are intricately detailed.

Also, this cabbage leaf  plate
is a match to my collection minus the brown trimmed rim.

While perusing home decor shops,
I'm always on the hunt for  unique embellishments
that enhance my collections and displays!

These faux cabbages definitely fit the bill!!!

 A few faux asparagus spears
tied with twine create more visual appeal!

Grouping large and small cabbages
creates a greater impact!

Creating a realistic environment,
I used my cabbage leaf place mats 
to line the top of the built~in china cabinet.

These bunny figurines certainly appear to have been
made in the likeness of those illustrations of Beatrix Potter.

But, does this adorable bunny 
appear to have a rebellious nature???
  

Could he possibly defy his mother 
by trespassing into the garden. . .

while attempting to find some vegetables on which to snack???

Mischievous, perhaps. . .
one thing I know for sure,
these four bunny figurines have stolen my heart
and will always have a space On Crooked Creek!!!

Mother Nature allowed a calm, 
relatively warm Spring day for photographing out~of~doors!
This week's assignment for Mary's Thursday's Inspiration
. . . Round!

For my subject matter,
On Crooked Creek,
I chose three round objects of interest!!!

The first is a vintage sand stone ~ grinding / sharpening stone.
The second is an aging, deteriorating tree stump.
The third are sweet gum seeds from the tree during the Winter.

Promise Of Spring. . .

Spring arrives in the Guest Room,

On Crooked Creek, with pale hues to promote tranquility.

Eggs are the one decor accessory

that whispers ever so softly ~

Spring has arrived!

Removing the white Tea Set,

I chose a Gold Crown pale Aqua saucer

to place under my short cloche.

Soft buttery  yellow paper shreds

gently create a nest for muted blue and green eggs.

A faux blossom and double satin ribbon

in soft butter yellow brings harmonious balance.

With Easter rapidly upon us this year,

I've added  a "pair of hares" to this trayscape 

to welcome our guests.

I adore his sailor collar, bow tie and gingham checked overalls.

The floral and ribbon garland softly encompassing her head

reminds me of May Days of years past. 

She dons a rose apron piped with pink bias tape 

and red satin ribbon rosettes!

The dusty blue lace neckroll

creates a soft backdrop for our Guest Room Spring Trayscape.

The feminine poofy quilted block bedspread

is adorned with lace and ruffles.

A petite night stand holds a vintage blue glass lamp

complete with glass ruffled lampshade. 

The framed print was a gift from a Pen Pal.

A vintage Baby Ben clock is a recent Antique Mall find. 

Wound daily, it keeps accurate time.

A sweet touch of Spring ~

two faux eggs nestled atop soft butter yellow paper shreds.

The platinum rimmed Lenox China dish 

usually holds chocolates for our guests.

An heirloom, vintage secretary 

rests to the right side of the Guest Room bed.

Above the secretary,
is my MoMa's baby dress, tattered and torn. . .
but still intack and hand stitched by my maternal Grandmother.
Moma was born April 1916.

The pastel hues of my Precious Moments collection
continues the tranquil mood of our Guest room.

This precious soldier reminds me of the hymn,
Onward Christian Soldier; however he was purchased
to commemorate "Mr. Ed's" years of service in the U. S. Army.

I purchased this figurine as a gift for my parents
to commermorate the 40th Anniversary of my adoption. 
My Dad returned the figurine to me
shortly after my MoMa passed away in 1994.

A precious gift from the parents 
of my Pre~School class students 
during my first year of teaching.

In this era of technology,
with written correspondence nearing extinction,
I feel continually blessed to have three precious Pen Pals.

My first Pen Pal is from Pennsylvania.
After arriving here on the Prairie, I aquired a second Pen Pal
originally from Illinois ~ now residing in Tennessee.

Just recently, a new Pen Pal from Florida.
I enjoy hearing from these ladies on a continuing basis.

As you can see here, 
the Easter cards are already addressed and waiting to be mailed!

Howling winds may still be ever present On Crooked Creek,
but I'm hoping it won't be much longer 
before the full onset of Spring!

For with the promise of  Spring ~
                                                             comes the possibility of guests!!!
