Happy Days. . . Again!

"Sunday, Monday,  Happy Days.
Tuesday, Wednesday,  Happy Days.
Thursday, Friday,   Happy Days.
Saturday, What a day,
Groovin' all week with you."

Happy Days ! ! !
An oil portrait of "Mr. Ed" and I
days before his induction into the U.S. Army 1970!

On Crooked Creek it is definitely Happy Days
now that the new Master Bedroom linens have arrived,
been laundered, ironed and placed atop the bed!!!

as you enter from the East Wing Hallway.

"Mr. Ed" and I couldn't be more pleased with the results!

You might remember that the original plan
was to bring in more masculine elements
by eliminating some of the feminine decor
therefore creating a more streamline designed Master Bedroom.

as you enter from our Master Bath.

The creamy ivory hue of the Ralph Lauren Marrakesh Quilt
with matching Shams compliments our Cheri Blum
Antique Rose Quilt and Draperies quite harmoniously.

I adore how the diamond pattern of Ralph Lauren's Marrakesh Quilt
mimics the alternating rows of  Irish Chain
set in Cheri Blum's Antique Rose Quilt!

Who would have ever imagined
it would have taken us a year and a half
to reach a decision on a new quilt and shams? ? ?

Here was my checklist:
*1) NO more florals!
*2) Must be machine washable!!
*3) Needs to have masculine appeal!!!
Simple enough, right?
                                      Apparently NOT!!!

The new Master Bedroom quilt far exceeds my checklist!

Preferring to shop as locally as possible,
I was unable to find all three elements.
So~o~o. . .
by turning to the Internet, I finally found a suitable solution!

Sage green 400 count linens make this Master Bedroom
make~over a dream come true !

I'd say, On Crooked Creek,
that it's definitely Happy Days . . . Again!

"These days are all,
Happy and Free.( Those Happy Days)
These days are all,
Share them with me. (oh baby)
Goodbye grey sky, hello blue.
There's nothing can hold me when I hold you.
Feels so right, it can't be wrong.
Rockin' and rollin' all week long.

These days are all,
Share them with me. (Those Happy Days)
These days are all, Happy and Free.
These Happy Days are your's and mine, Happy Days."

On Crooked Creek
it will be sweet dreams for nights to come !

Until next time. . .

Everlasting Pumpkin. . .

Although we are days from the ending of Autumn,
many of the Season's pumpkins
are beginning to surmise to their fate.

Towards the end of September,
I purchased this adorable Pumpkin Tea Pot! ! !

A thrifty find
Pumpkin Tea Pot. . .$5.00 !

When I spotted it on a shelf,
in a quaint Antique Shop in Iola, Kansas. . .
my mind was transported to my childhood
and the Story of Cinderella!

Arriving On Crooked Creek with the petite Pumpkin Tea Pot,
I gave it a Seasonal place of honor on our dining room table.

I paired the tea pot with my petite Pumpkin creamer and lidded sugar bowl and placed it atop a leather embossed rectangular tray.

Another thrifty find. . .
Acorn Embossed Plate. . .$1.95 !

Sharing the spotlight is another of our vacation finds.
This caramel hued acorn and oak leaf embossed plate is a perfect serving tray to contain our acorn salt and pepper shakers.

To accentuate the pumpkin orange and acorn caramel hues, I chose my Tangier's paisley scalloped quilted place mats for our final Autumnal tablescape.

My golden Chili Peppers dinner plates with brown rims are topped with a green cabbage leaf salad plate
from my Majolica Bordallo Pinhiero Collection.

Our everyday beaded flatware
and the reverse petite floral print napkin,
held with wrought iron leaf napkin ring
bring visual interest in keeping with our Autumnal hues.

Simple claret stemware suffices as our water goblet
and allows all the vibrant hues of Autumn to shine
throughout our dining rooms Indian Summer sunlight.

While this Seasons Pumpkins will soon meet their doom,
for days and years to come On Crooked Creek,
I'll continue to enjoy my everlasting Pumpkin Tea Pot !

Until next time. . .

Storage Solutions. . .

Having recently attended a Christmas Open House,
I was astounded at the increase in prices
of faux greenery and florals! ! !

Top of Entertainment Center Christmas 2011!

Most of my past faux greenery
was purchased when employed at a local
Antique and Home Decor Shop.
Not only did we carry the finest brands,
but I received a generous employee discount!!!

Dining Room Wall Pocket Christmas 2011!

When you factor in my allergies
to all evergreens. . .
allergies + discount =
 l o t s of faux greenery On Crooked Creek! ! !

Front Porch Wreath Christmas 2011!

Arriving home,
I shared with "Mr. Ed" my two faux greenery purchases.
He was even more shocked at the retail price than I!

Needing a better solution for storing my long stem fauxs,
I ask "Mr. Ed" to design and make a Storage Solution!

"Mr. Ed's" Storage Solution Design!!!

After he received my approval of his design,
he was off to the garage to tackle the task at hand.
Ladies, I'm telling you, "The man can build a n y t h i n g"! ! !

Eight Divided Sections for Long~Stem Faux Florals!

A fresh coat of Paperwhite paint
keeps it light and bright
tying this Storage Solution into the existing decor.

Once the paint dried,
I began filling each divider with long florals!

First, those from Spring. . .

then, those from Summer. . .

add white peonies and some icy branches for Winter. . .

now I have "the perfect" Storage Solution
for my long faux floral stems!!!

Dining Room Half~Basket with Fall Hydrangeas!

Having this storage solution
to elevate and preserve my faux florals,
On Crooked Creek ~ hopefully ~
will lower the necessity to make frequent purchases.

Until next time. . .

Clean Sweep!!!

Halloween's over for another Season!

So~o~o. . .
On Crooked Creek made a clean sweep of the front porch!

Gone are the cobwebs,
gone are the leaves,
gone is the dust on this lonesome Prairie ~ for today, anyway.

Arriving On Crooked Creek,
there was no porch, only a set of concrete stairs.

Within a few weeks of moving in,
"Mr. Ed" aided by our son, added a decking to make a front porch.

However, as they hurried to finish before Winter weather set~in,
the side railing was never completed until this past week.

Luckily, no one was ever seriously hurt. . .
but I've had three people walk off the side
and fall on the first step going down.

One post, two baluster's, three railings,
supports and a lot of screws later. . .
my front porch is safe at last! ! !

Still too early to put out the Christmas decor,
I needed something to replace the painless window.

Purchased while vacationing,
I brought the ladder to the front porch to enhance the stone wall.

"Mr. Ed" attached my soft Autumnal hue wreath to the top rung.

I grouped the pumpkins
and what is left of our sweet potato vine at the base of the ladder.

Froggy with his shovel
and the vintage dust pan dressed in faux Autumn foilage
are tucked neatly in the corner of the new porch railings! ! !

Today, "Mr. Ed" is painting the cap for the post  top.
Now that all is swept clean. . .

it's time for "Mr. Ed" and I to enjoy these last few warm days of Autumn!

"Even if something is left undone,
everyone must take time to sit still and
watch the leaves turn."

Until next time. . .

Autumnal Gatherings. . .

Since returning  On Crooked Creek from vacation,
our Social Calendar has been filled with . . .
Autumnal Gatherings!!!

Pat enjoying Annual Trout Fishing Trip @
Bennett Spring State Park!!!

Oh, what total JOY
to help celebrate my BEST FRIEND (ever) from High School
Mother's 100th Birthday!!!

The Birthday Girl!
Edna Gorman

What a blessing this "precious lady" has been in my life!!!

The Birthday Girl and My Best Friend!!!
Pat, Edna and Rosann

To be invited to this joyous celebration was such a privilege. . .
then to be included in the day's photographs was a precious memory in my life!

Rosann and her beautiful daughter, Amber!
"Mr. Ed" was so~o~o good to take a few snapshots for us!
I want to forever hold this day close to my heart!

Pat with Amber and Rosann.
I know you've heard it said ~
that when you have a true friendship,
even though a great deal of time may have passed. . .
when you see each other again,
it's as if no time at all has passed at all!
That's "exactly" the way it is with Rosann and I!!!

Pat and Rosann sharing ideas for Edna's breakfast!!!
Thank you, dear friend, Rosann for allowing "Mr. Ed" and I
to be a part of Edna's celebration!!!

Having lived On Crooked Creek for ten years now,
I have been blessed with another group of friends. . .
my JOY Circle Group!

Every year for our October meeting,
we are hosted at the home of the Pam (seated)
for an Outdoor Cook~Out!

Add caption

Each member brings a side dish.
Hot dogs are cooked over an open fire. . .
followed by S'mores!
Then we gather around the campfire, light sparklers and sing!!!

Each of these precious ladies are a true JOY in my life!!!
The friendship, love and support they continually give one another is an outward example of "Making God's Love Real"!!!

Another group of ladies
have included me in their monthly "ladies day out"!!!
I'm thrilled to be a part of this amazing group of "new friends".
Currently, we are in the process
of planning a Progressive Christmas Brunch!!!

So~o~o. . .
for now, I'll enjoy each event as it happens.
