Seasonal Spanning Buffet. . .

Just before the SNOW began falling on the Prairie. . .
I spent the day in the Lower Level Living Room
On Crooked Creek!

I  t h o u g h t  I had put all of the Winter decor away,
but it seems I had missed up high. . .
                                                                 and down low!!!

So~o~o. . .
beginning with the chicken wire cabinet,
I brought out the Spring and Summer decor.

The Lower Level Living Room decor
doesn't change as often as other rooms On Crooked Creek.
Therefore, I try to do vignettes 
that either blend harmonously with the "themed" decor 
or those that span more than one Season.

A vintage wooden brick form makes a unique backdrop
filling the gap between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling.
The vintage butter churn and the crocks stay year round!

Trying desperately to inject more texture into my design,
I brought in a wicker tray and bee skep to create my vignette.

I often use books as risers for accessories in my displays,
especially when viewed from below! (I'm 5 foot nothing!!!)

The wreath with soft buttery yellow and purple blossoms 
adds a touch of softness to the hardscapes in this vignette.
The bees add a touch of whimsy . . .they just make me smile!

Now, to create a tablescape 
that will span effortlessly through the two Seasons.

Draping a round tablecloth on the diagonal,
adds a layer of softness and disguises a blemish in the table.

Many times, on the Lower Level Living Room,
accessories arise from necessity rather than creativity.
I had no where else to store 
the verdigris wrought iron candleholders,
so they became part of the design element in this tablescape!

The same holds true for the two tier 
black wrought iron plate rack. . .
again, part of this design element!

Embellishments of yellow beaded candle rings
and orange marbled pillars combined with soft hydrangea, 
asters and berry faux florals complete this side of the buffet.

A galvanized duo~planter serves as a utensil holder.
Brown ironstone pitcher is ready for serving iced tea
or lemonade, depending on the menu and the guests.

My Chili Pepper dinnerware stacked on the plate rack
and surrounded by similar hued cotton napkins awaits
the arrival of entertaining for the Season.

On a Personal Note:
A drop~in visit from our son on Friday 
prompted the following conversation.

Son: "So~o~o. . .what's going on in here?"

MoM: " Just getting ready for entertaining.
               Nothing planned."

Son: "Really?"

MoM: " Not at the moment. Did you want it to be?"

Son: "Hm~m~m. . .Maybe?"

You see, dear ones. . .
our son is turning 40 this April! 
He has made it clear he doesn't want any surprises!

So~o~o. . .who says his Birthday Celebration
has to be a surprise??? This MoMa's thinking!!!
